[Tokyo Treat] REVIEW: Premium Box April (Part 1.5/2)

Hello!
So, this is to continue with the Tokyo Treat April Box!

Baby Star Bonito Kelp Udon (4/5)
It tastes good, seasoned, weird, but I liked it, I boiled water, put it in the cup and waited 5 minutes just like any other instant soup, I think it had too much condiment but it was yummy and after eating I was SO full, even if it's a tiny cup. I liked it.

Meiji's Plum Pati-Chan (2/5)
I tasted this one in my office, I gave some to my co-workers and it was really funny hahaha, watching their faces go "WTF DID YOU GAVE ME". So these are pink and they have some white things, some are sweet and some are salty, so it's a weird combination, also they kind of pop in your mouth. Personally I didn't like them, I don't hate them but it's not something I will be happy to get/buy. It's funny to watch other people eat them haha.

Pepsi Sakura (4/5)
This was the one I was more excited about and it wasn't a dissapointment at all, I'm giving this a 4 of 5 because I just don't like that the flavor reminds me of Dr. Pepper. The taste it leaves is like fruits, it smells nice and I liked it. I mean, if you like Dr Pepper you will like this, it tastes somehow like that (dr pepper) but better.

Lotte's Koala March (Seasonal): Custard Pudding Flavor (4/5)
I loved them! If the filling wasn't that much air I would give them a 5! I'm not sure how to describe this snack/cookie, it's crunchy but it's smooth, soft and it tastes like vanilla AND it has a creamy filling that tastes like flan (cream caramel), I gave some of these cookies to my dad, mom, brother and niece because they were so tasty and I just wanted to share my happiness haha, AND can you see the koala's faces and pose? They are really cute!

Calbee BBQ Flavored Sapporo Potato Snacks (5/5)
OMG I LOVED THEM, they are crunchy and tasty and if I could I would buy this babies every day for the rest of my life. I know it may sound I'm exagerating but I really love them, they taste like maruchan chicken instant soup but better, with a touch of roasted beef and butter. I'm really happy

***********

Ok, I made this part the 1.5 of 2 because I still have to taste some other candies and I haven't had time for that. I'm going to check the other candies (chocolates and the ramune thing) and I will post the final chapter of this review! :) .... not that anyone reads this but ok ...

See ya!

[Tokyo Treat] REVIEW: Premium Box April (Part1/2)

Weps! So, maybe you have heard about Tokyo Treat or maybe not so just in case, Tokyo Treat is a subscription box containing Japanese candies/snacks packed from Japan and sent worldwide! There are three size and prices for the boxes which are:

  • Small: $14.99 usd/month
  • Regular: $24.99 usd/month
  • Premium: $34.99 usd/month

So, a little description of the boxes according to Tokyo Treat website (here):

SMALL
Looking to try a sampling of our service for the first time, without investing too much? This could be the package plan for you! With Small plan, we will send you 5 to 7 candies at just $14.99 a month.

REGULAR
Our second tier package plan gives a bit more canies and one DIY kit! With the Regular plan you will receive 8 to 12 fill-sized snacks or candies, along with your own SUSHI candy kit every month!

PREMIUM
This package plan is for the true Tokyoite! The Premium plan will deliver you over two pounds of snacks and candies to fill all of your snack fixes throughout the month! You will receive 13 to 17 pieces, on average, that include 1 DIY kit and a refreshing drink. A special item (from limited edition treats to high-quality collectibles) is also included.

Besides that, there's also the "Lucky Treat" in which all subscribers participate just to have a subscription (regarding the size of the plan), where one subscriber will win a box containing giant Japanese candies, exclusive toys (figures and plushies), just-released gadgets, new game consoles and games, all the box valued at over $500. Which is very excited because ANYONE can win just by having a subscription :').

Also, you can cancel your subscription forever OR you can just "skip a month" so you won't get charged for the next month in case you see your finances dropping (like me), take me as an example, I subscribed for the April box to see what's going on and I forgot to cancel the subscription so almost a month later I got charged for May box (stupid me), and I was about to cancel forever my subscription but now that I just got the April box I'm VERY excited for the May box and I KNOW I won't have money to pay for June box so I skipped June and my next billing will be for July box, but maybe I will skip that one too to start paying for August box.

ANYHOW,

Here's what I got:
  • Meiji's Pucca Chocolate
  • Crunchy Panda Z
  • Meiji's Plum Pati-Chan
  • Raw Ramune Candy
  • Karamucho Hot Chili-Flavored Chips
  • Baby Star Yakisoba Sauce Flavor
  • Chocolate Flour & Green Tea Flavored Mochi (DIY candy)
  • Lotte's Koala March (Seasonal): Custard Pudding Flavor
  • Carrot Chopped Rice Cake
  • Wasabi Grilled Seaweed
  • Baby Star Bonito Kelp Udon
  • Sakura Pepsi (Special item)
  • Doraemon/Hello Kitty Purse (Special item)
  • Chocolate Monaca
  • Calbee BBQ Flavored Sapporo Potato Snacks
I haven't taste ALL of them so far, but the ones I have, OMG I loved them.

Now, details about the delivery, I paid on March 30 for April box and I got it yesterday May 24, I am from Sonora, Mexico and the package came for Correos de Mexico, the package didn't have any tracking number so I just had to wait (almost 2 months), BUT it was worth it, and I have to say that I'm really shocked (in a good way) that the product came without harm, the chips weren't all crushed, the box was in good condition, OMG I thought the Pepsi Sakura would explode on my face when I opened it but IT DIDN'T, then I was "ohh, so there's no gas in it, it will be all flat and awful and hot" but IT WASN'T, it wasn't cold but it wasn't hot either, I put it on the fridge for about 30min and it was just perfect.

I'm really excited for the May box!

So, I'm going to eat the Baby Star Bonito Kelp Udon soup, Meiji's Plum Pati-Chan and Raw Ramune Candy today, and tomorrow I will put the remaining reviews.

Here's what I have tasted so far:

Carrot Chopped Rice Cake (2/5)
Tastes like rice krispies with less sugar and softer, I liked them but not loved them. I gave them to my niece (4 yrs) and she loved them. The package is pretty and original.

Wasabi Grilled Seaweed (5/5)
LOVED THEM! At first I was prepared to hate it but nope, I really like seaweed and the spicy flavor of wasabi just made it better, they are also crispy which I loved and dried/grilled, I can eat this all day everyday! It can get really spicy/hot for you if you are not used to spicy things.

Baby Star Yakisoba Sauce Flavor (4/5)
They do have yakisoba flavor, or at least the one I know from Japanese restaurants near by. I like the crunchiness, the flavor it leaves in your mouth that is not too strong and what impressed me the most is that the bag was full with product, not just air.

Meiji's Pucca Chocolate (2/5)
The package is nice, the chocolate inside is tasty and creamy, but a lot of the cookies were too hard when biting it, don't know if it's me or the cookie so just ignore me. I didn't like them too much but that's maybe because I don't like nutella and the chocolate inside reminded me of how nutella tastes.

This will be continued with the review of the remaining products.

See ya!

[Tokyo Otaku Mode] REVIEW: Cardcaptor Sakura 20-Year Serialization Anniversary Illustration Collection

Hi! As a lot of you know (or at least the ones who loves CCS) this year is the 20th anniversary of the anime Cardcaptor Sakura which I really REALLY REAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY LOVE.

I wasn't able to get the manga when I was younger (12) and I could only watch CCS on Cartoon Network, back in the good old days, this anime was one of my favorites along with Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Magic Knight Rayearth and Escaflowne, I forgot or at least thought I was over this love I had for CCS when I was entering to college and now, some (a lot) years later the sakura fever comes back from my heart! NOW that I finally have money (not much), now that I can buy my own things, A LOT OF SAKURA THINGS ARE NOW ON THE MARKET AND AVAILABLE, I CAN'T...

I have a lot of feels right now, whatever... SO, as soon as I heard there was going to be like a following of the manga from CLAMP because of the anniversary I was burning out of joy and emotions, then I saw the artbook of illustraions and I HAD TO HAVE IT.

So I ordered from Tokyo Otaku Mode, where I've made some purchases in the past and everything is good.

I ordered it on March 26 and it was shipped on March 30, BUT because the postal service from my country was kind of slow... (correos de mexico) I got it until May 3rd. It's Ok, it is so worth the wait!

So, I received this box:

Where it had a plastic folder (pretty cool)
Front of the folder
Back of the folder

Two stickers

And this poster

Front
Back

And this is IT!

Isn't it pretty?! I get happy just by remembering I have it at home.

**Edited**

Here are more pictures of it (I apologize for the quality of the pictures u_u):

It was $39.99 usd + shipping (to Mexico) = $49.21 usd at the time it was around 900 pesos u_u AND I REGRET NOTHING!

AND here's the link from Tokyo Otaku Mode website in case you want it... also, it costs more than when I ordered it ($47.99 usd) and it says there's only 7 left:

That's all for now, see ya!
